More than 100 pupils from Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tronoh participated in Book Aid Asia's BACA (Book Advocacy for Student Achievement) Programme, a 2½-hour literacy initiative designed to cultivate a culture of learning, encourage creative thinking, and build confidence in oral and verbal communication.
The programme featured a series of interactive learning activities, including storytelling, English appreciation, group discussions, and confidence-building exercises. Rather than focusing solely on reading, BACA encourages pupils to analyse stories, express their ideas, and communicate confidently in a supportive learning environment.
One of the highlights of the programme was a lively discussion on the characters from Disney's The Lion King. Pupils enthusiastically shared their views on the personalities and leadership qualities of the characters, while discussing themes such as courage, responsibility, friendship, and teamwork. The activity encouraged critical thinking and gave every child the opportunity to speak confidently and articulate their opinions.
"The enthusiasm shown by the pupils was remarkable. Their willingness to participate and express their ideas demonstrates how storytelling can become a powerful platform for developing communication skills and creative thinking," said a representative from Book Aid Asia.
At the conclusion of the programme, Book Aid Asia donated 100 English storybooks to the school's library. The donation aims to strengthen the school's reading resources while encouraging pupils to continue developing a lifelong habit of reading.
The BACA (Book Advocacy for Student Achievement) Programme is one of Book Aid Asia's flagship literacy initiatives. Through engaging and interactive learning experiences, the programme seeks to inspire children to become lifelong learners, creative thinkers, and confident communicators.
Book Aid Asia extends its sincere appreciation to the Headmaster, teachers, and staff of SK Tronoh for their warm hospitality and invaluable support in making the programme a meaningful success.
As Book Aid Asia expands its outreach across Malaysia, it remains committed to empowering children through books, inspiring learning beyond the classroom, and creating opportunities for every child to discover the joy of reading and the confidence to express themselves.
