On 31 July 2024, SK Sungai Kertas hosted the BACA Programme, an educational initiative aimed at promoting reading habits and strengthening English language appreciation among primary school students. Organised by Book Aid Asia in collaboration with the school management, the programme engaged approximately 100 students through motivational and interactive learning activities.

The event featured a motivational talk and an interactive English Appreciation session designed to encourage students to develop confidence in using the English language while cultivating a stronger interest in reading. Students responded enthusiastically throughout the programme, reflecting growing interest in language learning and self-development.

As part of the school’s English Week celebration, Book Aid Asia also organised an English Challenge aimed at identifying students with strong enthusiasm and ability in the language. Following the competition, 10 students were selected as “English Champions” and were presented with certificates of recognition in appreciation of their achievement and participation.

Organisers expressed hope that the recognition would inspire more students to actively participate in reading and English-related activities while building greater confidence in communication skills.

To further support the school’s reading culture, Book Aid Asia donated 50 English storybooks to the school. The books were officially handed over to the headmaster, Mr. Azman, as part of the organisation’s ongoing commitment to promoting literacy and educational development among young learners.

The BACA Programme reflects continuous community-driven efforts to empower students through reading, language appreciation, and access to quality educational resources.
