Book Aid Asia Inspires Young Readers Through BACA Programme at SK Sungai Choh

On 19 June 2024, SK Sungai Choh welcomed the Book Advocacy for Children’s Achievement (BACA) programme organised by Book Aid Asia, aimed at encouraging reading habits and strengthening English language appreciation among students.

The programme involved approximately 200 students from Years 4 to 6, who participated in a series of educational and interactive activities designed to cultivate interest in reading and improve confidence in English communication.

Among the highlights of the programme was the “Road to English Champion” motivational talk, where students were encouraged to spend more time reading books and less time on mobile phones and digital distractions. The session emphasised the importance of reading in developing knowledge, creativity, and language proficiency.

Students also took part in an Interactive English Appreciation Programme, which introduced engaging and enjoyable approaches to learning English. The activities received enthusiastic participation from students, reflecting strong interest in language learning through interactive methods.

As part of the initiative, Book Aid Asia donated a collection of new English storybooks to the school library to support the school’s reading culture and provide students with greater access to quality reading materials.

The school also identified a group of students as “English Champions” in recognition of their enthusiasm and achievement in English-related activities. During the programme, official certificates of recognition were presented to the selected students, who are expected to play an important role in encouraging their peers to develop stronger reading habits and greater confidence in the English language.

also commended the commitment shown by the teachers and the school leadership, noting that strong support from educators is essential in nurturing students’ academic and personal development. The programme reflects Book Aid Asia’s ongoing mission to empower young learners through literacy, educational engagement, and community collaboration.
